Main St., Los Angeles, CA The Villa de Branciforte was founded in 1797 by Governor Diego de Borica of California on orders of Viceroy the Marqués de Branciforte. It was the third of Alta California's three pueblos. The settlement existed as a separate township until 1905, when it was annexed to the city of Santa Cruz. GRAND REOPENING OF LOS ENCINOS STATE HISTORIC PARK on April 27, 2002 Structures damaged in the 1994 earthquake have been rebuilt and restored, specifically a fully restored 1849 adobe, an 1871 two-story bunkhouse, and a limestone blacksmith shop.Positions are open for volunteers and a few paid jobs.
