The Coro and Conjunto are under the direction of Juan Pedro Gaffney R. who founded them in 1975 to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of the Mission and City of San Francisco. The Coro has presented music of the Spanish-speaking world to audiences throughout Northern and Central California ever since, and has emerged as a leading voice world-wide in the recovery of Latin America‚s classical music legacy. Both groups function as a program of Instituto Pro Música de California, a non-profit arts/education institute dedicated to researching, promoting and presenting the folk and classical music repertories of Iberia and Ibero-America. Over the past twenty-nine years, IPMC‚s research program has returned more than 100 works of Spanish and Latin American composers, both ancient and modern, through U.S. and/or 20th century premiere performances. The organization also introduces this rich musical heritage to the public through affordable live performances such as Día de los Reyes, which is their most popular concert. ********************************************************* PENTACLE PRESS WEBSITE CMSA member Dave McLaughlin reports that the Pentacle Press website is up and running. Check it out at http://www.missionscalifornia.com/ The site includes a "Missions Gateway" section. This contains an interactive map and 4-5 minute "visual journeys" of each of the 21 missions done in Macromedia Flash. They also contain a time line for each mission, historic and current photographs, and travel tips. The site also includes five galleries, including one which galleries presents the 19th century mission and mission-era event drawings of Alexander Harmer and A.B. Dodge. Visitors will also want to peruse the interesting "California Stories" section. Dave reports that the site has begun receiving questions from both children and adults. So he has established a special "Ask the Experts" section where he has posted a number of the more interesting Q&A from the past few months. He writes, "A number of CMSA members have been quite helpful to me in developing answers although we take final responsibility for the accuracy." *********************************************************** RECENT PUBLICATIONS Robert H.
